Once again there will be a Classic Vehicle Gathering as part of the Boston Spa Festival 2018.
Last year we had a good turn out and the village became alive with classic vehicles. Proud owners took the wraps off their vehicles and residents and visitors went down Memory Lane with comments such as ‘My dad had one of those’, ‘Our first car was a red one and only cost £600 new’, ‘with that model the wipers slowed down on hills’. You will remember that nearly 50 beautiful cars were on display and their owners and guests enjoyed the glorious weather and the friendly atmosphere which developed.
So, the date for you to put in your diary is:-
Saturday 14th July at 9.30 am.
We will be meeting at the Church Fields Car Park
I expect that the Scouts and others will be offering bacon butties and coffee/tea.
For those who are interested I will make available on the day an optional scenic route that you may wish to follow. The distance will be no more than 80 miles but this year will head for Pately Bridge and Fountains Abbey. It will be completely your choice whether you follow the specific route and a map will enable you to deviate or stop off on the way. My intention is for you to go and explore this part of our glorious county. Naturally you will need to confirm that your vehicle is roadworthy and insured for participating in the display and scenic drive.
It would be nice to meet up again back in the village from 3.30 pm onwards and the organisers will be encouraging visitors to come and see the vehicles when they return to Church Street Car Park.
You will be interested to know that Stables Lane Playing Field, thanks to the Parish Council, is being transformed into a Community Park for people of all ages. This is an ambitious programme which is not yet fully funded so is being done in phases. Phase 1 is underway (to be completed by August this year) and will provide a circulating path, youngsters’ play area, seating, two 5-a-side football pitches, a nature area – and will still incorporate space for community events such as the Gala and Festival.
For this reason I would encourage you to make a generous contribution to the Stables Lane Fund. Collection boxes will be available on the day.
There is no charge for entering our Classic Vehicle Gathering.
Last year about 50 vehicles attended. A gift of £10 per car would pay for a picnic table or 5 mature trees.
Please be generous – it is a Community Park for you and your family
Please register your interest in the event so that we have some idea of numbers. Offers of help on the day will, of course, be well received. Spread the word………
Happy Motoring
Indemnity Form to be completed and signed by participants.

Classic Vehicle Gathering
Sat 14th July 2018.
Welcome to our Classic Vehicle Gathering.
The aim of the event is for fun and the enjoyment of meeting and driving in the company of other enthusiasts.
The organisers disclaim any responsibility for any damages incurred.
It is expected that the static display will be on land owned by the Parish Council. You should exercise great care when manoeuvring. The road event is strictly non-timed and non-competitive. It is purely optional and is a suggested route to enable you to take your vehicle for a scenic run. You will travel at your own pace and can you deviate from the route. A map is provided. Please maintain courteous driving standards and respect other road users and the residents of the villages that you pass through.
